Technical Requirements
Expert Planet does not provide any equipment or hardware to set up your home business.
Following are the computer requirements you must have in order to contract with Expert Planet:
- A personal computer with at least a 1 GHz Pentium III processor
- DSL or Cable Modem connection to the Internet
- A minimum of 1 GB of RAM Memory
- Windows XP (we do not recommend the Home Edition), Windows Vista, or Windows 7
- Internet Explorer 7 or higher
- Java 2- Version 1.5 or higher
- A minimum of one USB port (USB version 2)
- System configured to Microsoft’s recommendations as outlined on their “Protect Your PC Web Site.” These steps include:
- Windows Update enabled and configured to update automatically
- Windows standard firewall enabled on systems where it exists
- Anti-Virus software installed and configured to automatically update (refer to Microsoft’s website for instructions on securing your system)
- Microsoft has effective anti-spyware software you can download for free: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/ software/default.mspx
Equipment
- Ad-Aware installed and run regularly. Download it for free at www.lavasoft.com
- A monitor capable of displaying at least 1024 X 768 pixels
- A sound card installed
- Speakers or headphones
At the time you begin offering services to Expert Planet, you must have a land-line telephone that is separate from your home phone:
- Along with corded, land-line service, Expert Planet also supports digital telephone from AT&T, Verizon FIOS and Comcast Digital Voice
- Voicemail, call waiting and all other features MUST BE DISABLED
- Voice-over IP phone services (e.g. Skype, Vonage), cellular phones, and satellite phones are not compatible with Expert Planet’s system
- Long distance service is not necessary
